WAYFAIR

SEPTEMBER 16, 2024

We went to Wayfair over the weekend. I usually spend hours and hours a week on the app browsing everything they have. It’s anything from dishes to couches to window treatments to beds to whatever you can think of to furnish a house. They just opened up their first ever store in Chicago. So we went. Obviously.

I didn’t really plan on buying anything, but I did have a couch in mind that I wanted to check out before I ordered. Now the store is like 1% of their actual inventory so if it’s on the app, it might not be in the store. BUT I did find a couch I really liked. It is heavenly. And corduroy. I’ll probably hate it in a few years, but this thing is like next level fluffy. Comfort > Style. I can just imagine being hungover and not moving from this thing for an entire 48 hours while I recover and sip some blue Gatorade and munch on my buttered toast and question all my life choices.

I found a mattress and a bed frame and some end tables and some light fixtures too. We had no fun at all…….

Their customer service is top notch. I swear they picked the nicest people in Illinois that they could find (they do exist) and put a purple apron on them. For real though.

Basically anything small that you could fit into a shopping cart was fair game to take home with you. Otherwise any big purchases, like a mattress or couch, you would scan the QR code and have it shipped to your house. I was really there just to look and touch, but I could’ve used their Design Services if I wanted to. You would have a customer service rep walk the store with you and they would help you furnish and decorate your room or house or whatever you wanted. They have an iPad they track everything you want with and then at the end you can coordinate shipping and all that stuff. It’s so easy.

So yeah. I did found a couch like I mentioned and a mattress and a bed frame thing. I’m going to order them this week. I wasn’t ready to pull the trigger on Saturday for some of the stuff, but once I showed them what I liked, they could lock in that price for me. Okay so follow me here. The mattress I wanted was on sale (it’s a king because anything smaller is for chumps) so they sent me an email that locks in the sale price for two weeks. That way, I didn’t have to make the decision right away. It was slick.

They also had a cafe in there. Once you ordered, I swear your meal and drink were ready before you could put your card back in your wallet. Chicken caesar salad was 10/10. Would recommend. They honestly really have it figured out.
