We had our second meeting to follow up from last week’s value engineering ideas.

I want to preface this by saying I work with really smart people. I don’t understand what they say or do, but they know how to make really cool houses come to life. Here’s what I took from them:

We’re moving forward with 14″ floor trusses with the change in direction. This is for the sake of cost and HVAC purposes.

The porch posts will be purely for decoration and won’t require a beam.

Some changes will be made to the basement beams and the wall to the left of the stairs (as you’re going down). I would try to explain those changes, but there is 100% chance I would relay it incorrectly.

Value engineering is kind of confusing. Because you could save money one way, but it could end up costing you another way. Ya feel?
