SIDING
NOVEMBER 5, 2024
It’s a good day to install some siding.
Hopefully siding will finish up this week, along with the garage door being installed on Wednesday. And then possibly stone on the porch and sides of the garage starting Thursday.
Drexel offers Blue Door vinyl siding. I might’ve mentioned it in previous posts, but Blue Door products to Drexel are the same concept as Kirkland to Costco. The whole idea behind this is to have a higher quality product for a lower cost. For example, Duracell (who manufactures Kirkland batteries) sells their name brand for $0.52 per battery. Kirkland batteries are $0.40 per battery, but equal-greater quality. Everybody wins. Same thing here.
Blue Door Vinyl comes in 16 colors of lap, shakes, and board & batten. 5 months ago, I had no idea what any of those words meant, so see below if you’re like me. I’m sure you’ve seen them all before and just didn’t know what they’re called.

I chose Blue Door Linen Board and Batten for the front of the house so it looked cottage-y. The rest of the house is Linen lap siding. I should’ve taken a photo farther away, but she be how she be.

Vinyl siding is definetly more budget friendly compared to composite siding. If you’re anything like me and trying to build on a budget, vinyl is a great option. It’s known to be less durable and require more maintance. BUT Blue Door vinyl has ChromaTrue Technology (aka resists sun, heat, rain, and other random chemicals) and a hardwood emboss texture (aka minimal upkeep and natural looking). And it’s almost made in the USA.
Yay for budget friendly options!
