I received the first round of designs today. One thing I didn’t really take into consideration is how goofy a garage looks on the side of a strawberry box house. I’m thinking there were some “whys” behind some of the design edits, but I’m not sure what they are. At first glance, it’s too ranch-y and not very strawberry box-ish/ cottage-ish. Looking to add more character to it. I have different ideas for the living room and kitchen for sure. I’m not worried about the exterior details quite yet – we’ll get the interior down first.

I started to email the design team all the revisions I was thinking, but ended up just setting up another meeting for 7am tomorrow. I’m going to bring John, who’s building the house, to make sure any edits are “buildable”. I’d like to move the garage to the side/ back of the house if possible. But I’m not sure how that works with the exposed basement.

Part of the issue too is that I don’t know how to visualize this. I had to get a tape measure out to figure out how big Bedroom #2 even was. My biggest concern right now is the garage though, which I’ll know more about tomorrow.

With the size, shape, and foundation of the house, not everything on my wishlist is do-able. Reality Check.
