PAINT
OCTOBER 24, 2024
I would be lying if I said this wasn’t an experience. It’s a testiment that I don’t know what I’m doing. Mostly because I didn’t know what questions to ask.
I went to Sherwin Williams with my roommates. (They’re actually my parents, but it keeps them youthful when I call them my roommates.) My dad is doing the painting, so he went with to make sure I didn’t mess it up. My mom went because she’s good entertainment.
If you are buying paint, you must know the wall square footage and the texture on the wall. I knew neither of these. Shocking.
I had to call my drywaller. Somehow Sherwin Williams knew him and had his number (God Bless). It turns out he painted the ceilings and primed the walls which is nice because my dad won’t have to. The texture is orange peel which I think is standard, but I also had to ask that. Basically what I’m saying is be more prepared than I was if you’re going to buy paint.
I looked at some colors online before I went. Don’t bother. The colors are drastically different on a screen versus real life. I did have some Pinterest photos (below) that I went off of to choose colors, but I would never ever buy paint without seeing it in person.

Here are the colors I chose. We’re painting on Tuesday, and by “we” I mean my dad. Shout out to Kevin at Sherwin Williams for dealing with the chaos 15 minutes before closing and not judging me.
