I talked to Joel today, and we talked through the calls I made yesterday. After that conversation, I’m looking at another lot on Valley View Dr in Campbellsport. It’s listed right now at $48,900 which is higher than the lot on Veterans Circle. BUT it’s already developed. So all of the laterals and adult stuff I don’t really understand yet is already there. 

Also, my brother is a Project Manager at Moore Construction and was talking about wood foundation. He was 100% trying to talk me out of it. I brought this up because in my head, wood + moisture = rot = bad = my house falls down. Here’s what I found out when I used some resources and looked into it more:

  • There’s a stigma. Unless a lumber company launches something like wood foundation, concrete marketing wins.
  • There’s permanent linkage. Wood itself does not rot. This is similar to all of the pole barns that are still standing after 30+ years with no issues. 
  • Water filters through gravel and water does not go sideways.
  • This is a lifetime warranty from the treated company.
