FLOORING SELECTIONS PART I

APRIL 17, 2024

If you read the Cabinetry Selections blog post first, things have already changed.

I still like Blue Door LVP – Rome. That’ll be throughout the laundry, kitchen, living room, master bedroom, and closets. The powder room will be tile. The master bathroom and guest bathroom will be LVT, and then the stairs, loft, and guest bedroom will be carpet.

PINK = LVP, ORANGE = LVT, YELLOW = TILE

I changed some of the countertops based on the flooring selections because once I put them together, it was wayyy too much going on. Lorri*, one of Drexel’s fine flooring gurus, was very, very helpful with selections, knowing what would fit in my budget, alternative options if I had concerns, etc. 10/10 would recommend.

We went room by room and pulled samples from my cabinetry selections. I had no idea LVT (luxury vinyl tile) was even an option. Basically this is the same as LVP (luxury vinyl plank). LVT looks like stone/ wood but is cost effective compared to real tile (or tile-TILE if you’re me). There was a LVT I liked with the cabinets I had picked out called Pietra Alabaster. This will be in both full bathrooms. The stairs and loft are carpeted, so that’s why there’s a carpet sample in the photo below. I told Lorri to pick a carpet color because they all look the same to me?! Maybe I’ve just seen too many options.

For the half bath, I wanted a fun tile, but I knew that this was likely out of my budget. However, it’s a very small area, so if any room had any tile, it would be this room. I switched the cabinet color in here based on the flooring. I went from Fawn to Willow.

Also just a disclaimer, I’m not married to any of these selections yet. We’re using this to get a quote for everything so I know what buckets have what dollar amounts. There are certain things I’m willing to spend more on and certain things I would go the cost effective route because I’m not passionate about it. The kitchen and master bathroom are two rooms I’d want to invest more in.

One thing I would say after doing both cabinetry and flooring selections is, if you can, you should do these selections together versus separate. That way you can see what everything looks like together right away. Although, sometimes it helps to sleep on it. To each their own.

*Pictured below is a Jay Leno and Lorri comparison. Do you guys think they look alike?! Let me know.
